About Matthew Gozzard
Get to know Matthew Gozzard
After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2009, and spending two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Toledo earning my Master's degree in Music Education, I am thrilled to be in my tenth year of teaching in the public school system of Virginia. Although I have been an active free-lance musician as a saxophonist and bassist for many years, my passion is teaching. I understand that the process of preparing for a performance is where lasting memories are made. I have had the opportunity to perform with several of the great jazz musicians including Antonio Hart, Tim Whalen, Ellen Rowe, Michael Phillip Mossman, Geri Allen, Rufus Reid, Tyrone Wheeler, Andrew Bishop, Dennis Wilson, Donald Walden, Larry Nozero, George Benson, Gunnar Mossblad, Elaine Zajac, Diana Gannett, Dan Pliskow, Bob Hurst, Robert Culver, and Angela Knight just to name a few. My favorite genre of music to perform is jazz but I often perform and teach all styles of music from classical to contemporary rock and roll.
