About Matthew Lazo

Hello, my name is Matt! I’ve been playing guitar for over 12 years, and music has been a huge part of my life from the very beginning. I started my musical journey as a classical guitar player and continued studying and performing throughout college. Over the years, I’ve expanded my playing beyond classical guitar to explore a wide range of styles, including blues, R&B, and Neo Soul.

I’ve also been teaching guitar for the past 3 years and really enjoy helping students discover their own voice on the instrument. Whether you’re picking up a guitar for the first time, looking to build a stronger foundation, or hoping to expand your skills into a new style, I enjoy tailoring lessons to each student’s individual goals and interests. I believe learning guitar should be both productive and fun, and I strive to create a relaxed and encouraging environment for students of all ages and skill levels.

Outside of teaching, I’m an active musician and a member of the local band Paris Major. Performing with a band has given me the opportunity to continue developing my skills as a guitarist and musician while collaborating with other artists and exploring different sounds.

I’m also a big fan of John Mayer and his approach to guitar and songwriting, particularly the way he blends blues, pop, R&B, and soulful playing. I love bringing that same appreciation for different styles into my own playing and teaching.

I’m excited to meet new students, share my passion for guitar, and help each person become a more confident and well-rounded musician. Whether your goal is to play your favorite songs, learn to improvise, join a band, or simply enjoy playing guitar, I’d love to help you along the way!
