Get to know Matt Temple
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Matthew grew up in a musical family and began studying music and performing live in Austin's vibrant music scene at just eight years old. At the age of ten, he had the opportunity to shake Stevie Ray Vaughan's hand—an experience that inspired him to pursue a life in music.
Focusing primarily on the alto saxophone and flute, Matthew immersed himself in jazz and earned a place in the Texas All-State Jazz Band as a saxophonist. He later attended college, where he studied with renowned classical saxophonist Harvey Pittel. During the summers, he performed as a stage musician for Fiesta Texas and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines while maintaining a thriving private teaching studio of up to 50 students.
After graduating, Matthew spent the next decade touring the world, performing a wide variety of musical styles including Tejano, heavy metal, country, blues, and more. His versatility as a performer has made him a sought-after musician across many genres.
Today, Matthew continues to teach a full roster of private students while maintaining an active performance schedule throughout the Austin area. He also serves as a regular musician at Austin Ridge Church, where he performs nearly every Sunday.
