Get to know Mclin Choate

McLin (Skip) Choate is a native of Richmond, Virginia. He attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in music education in 1986. After beginning his career in music education in Powhatan County as Director of Bands at the high school and at the middle school, he moved to Chesterfield County where he has taught at the high school and middle school level. He is currently band director at Carver Middle School in Chesterfield County where he has been since the fall of 2008.


Mr. Choate has performed locally with such groups as the James River Chamber Opera Orchestra, the Richmond Philharmonic, and the Richmond Symphony Chorus. He is a founding member of The Festival Brass Quintet and is currently Pipe Major of the Grade 5 band in the Greater Richmond Pipes and Drums.
