Performance Experience: In addition to teaching, Megan has welcomed the opportunity to accompany fellow musicians at every stage of her musical development and career, from a position as a church choir accompanist while in high school to her current opportunities to accompany student and community choral groups and soloists in Connecticut. She believes that collaborating with other musicians has helped her to grow artistically and to get to know many creative and inspiring musicians.
Teaching Experience: Megan has eight years of experience as a private lesson instructor, and she has also taught a wide range of group music classes to students ranging in age from preschool to college.
Teaching Philosophy: Megan loves helping students discover and develop their individual musical talents! In her teaching, she seeks to balance her own pedagogical knowledge and experience with the unique interests and desires of her students. She believes that students are much more likely to be successful if they feel excited about their own progress and abilities, and she therefore strives to keep lessons fun and full of encouragement.
Get to know Megan Drevits
Megan is a music teacher and accompanist in the Hartford area who first began teaching music in Illinois after receiving a bachelor’s degree in music composition from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2005. She later completed a master’s degree in music composition and music history at Butler University, where she was an active composer, vocalist, and pianist in the school’s New Music Ensemble. Currently, she teaches private piano lessons and works as an accompanist.
