About Michael Frost

Michael is a professional bassist who has experience performing and teaching a variety of styles and instruments. Receiving his first electric bass when he was 16, Michael quickly began playing with other musicians, covering popular rock and grunge songs. At 18, Michael was accepted into George Mason University’s jazz program where he began pursuing his degree in jazz studies.  Through this, Michael picked up years of experience performing in and writing for jazz and Latin American ensembles. Post-graduation, Michael has continued to perform and arrange music for performances throughout Northern Virginia.

Michael’s personal philosophies with teaching and practicing directly reflect his collegiate experience.  Students of Michael are taught to practice with the efficiency of a professional musician by focusing directly on specific problem spots, whether it be especially challenging passages or just a technique issue that may be slowing them down.
