Teaching Philosophy: I look forward to assessing each student’s needs and customizing a lesson plan that fits with their goals. This could be starting in a beginner book to get the fundamentals of music, getting prepped for high school jazz band, or preparing for auditions to pursue a degree in music in college. At the end of the day, it’s my goal to share the love of music and ensure that my students have fun and enjoy their instrument.

      Get to know Michael Kelliher

Inspired by rock bands of the 70s and 80s, Michael Kelliher began playing guitar as a teenager. Initially self taught, he then sought out private formal instruction. It was one of his teachers who encouraged him to start teaching others. He now has taught guitar, bass, and ukulele to students of all ages and skill levels for over 20 years. He works with his students on the genres of music that most inspire them, be it classical, jazz, blues, rock, etc.  In his spare time, he has preformed with various bands in the Mid-Atlantic area, and he writes and records his own music.
