Get to know Miche Hodges
Miche Hodges, a Washington, D.C.-based vocalist, is an active featured soloist pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. Hailing from Stafford, Virginia, Mx. Hodges served as a United States Marine Corps linguist for five years, performing in various joint-service choirs while on Active Duty. They also sang the National Anthem at the 2018 PGA Tour (Monterey, CA). Miche currently performs with the Downbeat award-winning Mason Jazz Vocal Ensemble and the Mason Jazz Ensemble (dir. Jim Carroll) at notable venues such as Blues Alley (Washington, D.C.), the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference (Richmond, VA), the Jazz Education Network Conference (New Orleans, LA), the Center for the Arts (Fairfax, VA), and the Hylton Performing Arts Center (Manassas, VA). They have been featured in the Reston Town Center “Meet the Artists” series, performed backup vocals for renowned solo artist Darden Purcell and the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, and have shared the stage with the American Festival Pops Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Peter Wilson. They also performed as a featured vocalist at the 2024 Loudoun Vocal Jazz All-Stars Showcase and began performing with their own jazz combo, 4Low, in late July 2024. Miche teaches voice and piano at Music & Arts in Alexandria, VA.
