About Michi Lin
Get to know Michi Lin
Violin has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. I was surrounded by music and started playing violin at age four. I learned violin from my Mother, who was a Suzuki Method violin teacher. Since my high school did not have an orchestra, I played violin in the band. I also toured Scandinavia and Austria with the California Youth Symphony. I Studied Music Performance at San Jose State University and played music with the Nova Vista Symphony as well as various other ensembles, including fiddle in the Flea Street String Band.
I help my students enjoy learning, while teaching the techniques that they can use throughout their musical journey. I am nurturing by nature and love to inspire my students to practice.
I teach both classical and fiddle styles. I also teach Suzuki Method for those families interested in this nurturing approach and working together with their child. My Suzuki training includes Suzuki method books 1-8.
I have taught violin classes at Suzuki Institutes at Stanford University, Occidental College and Suzuki Camp Campbell. I have also served as President and vice president of the Suzuki Association of Northern California.
I have spent much of the last 17 years raising my two kids, who are now teens. In my spare time, I enjoy music, yoga, being outdoors, and spending time with my family which includes a cat named Paws.
