Teaching Experience: Freelance instructor 1970 to present, Taught for Veneman Music from 1971 - 1980, taught for Music & Arts from 1975 to present. On the teaching faculty of Common Ground on the Hill at McDaniel College from 2019 to present.

Get to know Skip Anna
Skip has taught guitar, bass and other fretted string instruments full-time since the 70’s, and is the author of over thirty music instructional books, including guitar & bass guitar method and music theory books. Several of his students have gone on to schools like the Berkley School of Music and become professional musicians (one former student charted on Billboard). As a composer, he has written a number of classical guitar solos, and original folk, blues and ragtime pieces and hundreds of rock solos, as well as ensemble classical music, including a number of violin/guitar duets, five string quartets, two string trios, a string sextet and a brass quintet. Skip has played with the Jefferson Street Jug Band, performing with John Fahey at Lisner Auditorium in D.C., and at the Memphis Blues Festival, and played as lead guitar in a variety of professional hard rock, R & B, acid-rock, new wave, and outlaw country bands. He has a degree from the University Maryland and is on the faculty of Common Ground on the Hill’s Traditions Week at McDaniel College. He also plays various pick-up gigs and professional recording sessions.
