About Rey Sasaki
Get to know Rey Sasaki
Rey Sasaki is a strings instructor with 20+ years experience of music lessons, chamber music, and orchestral playing. Rey inherited his love of teaching from mother, who herself teaches early piano and comes from a line of musicians. He grew up in Baltimore, MD attending the Peabody Preparatory since the age of 4, and would go on to student music (and math!) at the University of Maryland. From open string songs to advanced canon repertoire, Rey is very passionate and excited to teach anyone who is willing to learn strings through the Suzuki method.
The violin (and viola!) is a versatile instrument that can foster any musician’s passions, no matter the age, genre, or interests. While left- and right-hand skills and techniques are crucial for developing tonality, intonation, and virtuosity, students should never lose sight of their natural musicianship and love of creating music. Anybody can learn to play and thrive in music as they develop their own relationship with their instrument and explore their identity as a musician.
