Rich Graham graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree and studied clarinet with members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His varied musical career included several national tours with vocalists of both the Metropolitan and New York City Opera, hundreds of shows (playing flute as well as clarinet, oboe and sax!), and many variety band productions. For several years Rich was also a clarinet soloist for the Nation’s largest Evangelical television network that reached a worldwide audience of over 100 million people with his signature song, “A Closer Walk With Thee”. He subsequently played for President Jimmy Carter as a featured Blues saxophone artist after studying “structured improvisation” for four years with North Carolina’s Godfather of Jazz, Bill Hanna. In addition, Rich had his own solo woodwind act for over a year at the Omni/Radisson Uptown Plaza Hotel in Charlotte and has performed at almost every Carolina military base as a member of both the Jerry Goodman Band and TPM Productions in Greensboro.
Rich played saxophone with the Charlotte Symphony and is currently a member of the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra where he was appointed acting principal/ section clarinetist and has performed with the Union Symphony Orchestra. He also has his own YouTube channel where he posts his live shows and paintings including the critically acclaimed conceptual art piece “Flight of the MUTATED Bumblebee”, initially premiered in the San Francisco area, which drew attention to the devastating effects of neonicotinoids:
