Performance Experience: Rick Shoemaker has performed and toured nationally with numerous artists since 1990 including Mad Margritt, Chuck Negron and Mystic Orchestra, renowned world music group Janah, MERMER, Leni Stern, and more.
Teaching Experience: Rick Shoemaker has taught drums and percussion at Ken Stanton Music since 1994 as well as Music Rx for four years.
Teaching Philosophy: With a strong focus on reading and the rudiments, I address balance, dynamics, technique, and timing in various styles of grooves, fills, and solo ideas.
Get to know Rick Shoemaker
Rick Shoemaker has been teaching drums and percussion for over 30 years, addressing techniques to improve the student's balance and sense of freedom with improvising and reading rhythmic notation. With a focus on reading, moving standard and hybrid rudiments around the drum set, and studying various drumming styles and song forms, these lessons will be of great value to any beginner, intermediate, or advanced students.
Rick has played drums and/or percussion for over 40 years, playing locally and touring nationally with artists as diverse as Chuck Negron and Mystic Orchestra, renowned world music group Janah, Leni Stern, Geoff Atchison, Street Choir the Van Morrison Experience, and currently tours and performs with Mad Margritt.
