Performance Experience: Had my first real band while in the United States Air Force in
Homestead Fl, south of Miami. We played clubs in Miami and on
the military base - we were well liked, and had a good following.
Continued playing professionally,moved to Baton Rouge and had two bands.After becoming a Minister of Music in MS, I began giving lessons.
Teaching Philosophy: I continue to be a Minister of Music, and play my guitar regularly
at my home studio and church. I truly enjoy teaching guitar.
Get to know Bob Barger
Started guitar at age nine, and took lessons for seven years from
the same instructor - Went through the Mel Bay and Alfred Guitar
series - I played every day, and learned to play by ear as well as
read music - was obsessed with being a great musician, and
learned all the guitar instrumentals that were playing on the radio
in the 60’s and 70’s - played all THE VENTURES HITS
First band was in 8th grade, and we played for the 8th grade
dance.
Began singing after hearing Glen Campbell on the radio sing
“Gentle On My Mind”
