Performance Experience: Rob began performing as a guitarist with original hard rock and heavy metal bands in upstate New York in 1988. After relocating to Atlanta in 1990, he continued to perform locally with various local artists. He is currently performing with three local tribute bands including Heartisans (Heart) [bassist], Jerome Newton & The Band That Fell to Earth (David Bowie) [lead guitarist] and Hounds of Love (Kate Bush) [guitarist & bassist].
Teaching Experience: Rob has taught guitar and bass on and off for many years, since the early 1990s.
Teaching Philosophy: Music is a language that uses chords and melodies instead of words and sentences. These are the building blocks of which have the ability to connect with us in a way that words cannot. My role as a teacher is to inspire my students enough that will find the courage and tenacity to overcome the initial difficulties of learning their new instruments. It's also my hope that will continue to make it a lifelong journey of discovery as I have.
Get to know Robert Dwyer
Rob provides instruction for guitar and bass guitar. He has been playing guitar for the past 42 years and is ready to share his lifetime of knowledge with his students. Originally from the Capital District of New York, he relocated to Atlanta in 1990 to attend Atlanta Institute of Music during the early years of that school's inception. Since then, Rob has gigged and recorded with numerous rock bands as a guitarist.
While his main specialty is guitar, Rob has also been actively mastering bass guitar over the past five years and currently performs in that capacity with several local bands. He believes strongly in learning more than one instrument to expand one's ability to "speak music" and to also become a more valued commodity as a musician.
