Get to know Robert Pratt
Mr. Pratt completed his Bachelor's of Music in Music Performance at Towson University, where he studied with Michael M. Bunn, former Principal Tubist for the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra. At Towson, his focus was on small ensemble and orchestral performance. During his time at Towson, he also studied trombone with Dr. Natalie Mannix, former trombonist with the U.S. Navy Band and current Associate Professor of Trombone and Associate Chair of Instrumental Studies at the University of North Texas, and composition with Dr. Douglas Buchanan, a local Baltimore composer with national accolades. After the completion of his Bachelor's, Mr. Pratt attended Wright State University for his Master's of Music in Music Performance, where he studied with Dr. Tom Luckowicz, Principal Tubist for the Canton Symphony and current Assistant Professor of Low Brass at the University of North Alabama. At Wright State, his focus was on pedagogy and small ensemble performance.Mr. Pratt has served as Principal Tubist with Towson’s Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra; Principal Tubist in Wright State's Symphony and Chamber Orchestras; tubist in numerous university brass quintets; and has served as a local musician and substitute player throughout Maryland and Ohio. He has served as a private lesson teacher for over 15 years, teaching students from 3 years old to adults, with students ranging from beginners to university-trained musicians.
