Teaching Philosophy: I strive to encourage and engage my students, as to make them want to learn music and have fun as well. Also, part of my approach is to have my students learn the basics and theory of music. But also, I teach them how to play some of their favorite songs to keep them interested. I love to hear my students play and enjoy what I've taught them. It's rewarding for me and them.

Get to know Rodney Bollinger

Born and raised in the Metroplex area.  Started playing guitar at the young age of 9.

Luckily for me I could climb over my moms back fence and be at Bruce Music Company.

The teachers at the store encouraged me to pursue guitar and began giving me lessons.

The Beatles and Chicago were my favorite bands and I would listen and play along with them for hours at a time in my bedroom

I started my first band, Hartsspur in junior high.  At Bell High School I played trombone and became drum major my senior year.  I also concentrated on playing guitar and performing.

After graduation I attended North Texas State University for a year and had the opportunity to go on the road playing all across the United States.

I came back home at age 20 and started teaching guitar and playing in various bands.  Teaching and gigging has been my life.  I love what I do!

I luckily live with the love of my life, Sharon.  We have another furry family member named Louie which loves to hear me play guitar and travels with us.

I have to mention the greatest achievement of my life,  my daughter Miranda who has blessed me with a great son-in-law and two wonderful, precious, smart, loving grandchildren.

Presently, besides teaching guitar at Music & Arts, I play in two bands and enjoy spending time with family and friends.  I'm fortunate to be able to do a job I truly love.
