Get to know Ronald Palmer
Ronald Palmer is a professional hornist and teacher in Birmingham, AL with over 50 years of performing, teaching, and coaching experience. His primary instrument is the French Horn, and he also plays a Cornet and teaches all brass instruments.
Some of his first horn students have become successful college musicians, attending the University of Michigan, Howard University, and UNC Chappell-Hill. Many students have played in their All-State Bands in Georgia and, have auditioned for Solo & Ensemble competitions in the Atlanta area middle and high schools, and even performed with Ronald in the local Jazz orchestra in Metro Atlanta.
His students have been as young as six years old and have included students with developmental disabilities, all the way up to adults. Adult students starting after a 20-year or more hiatus have come to perform with local community Bands and Orchestras groups.
He has been an adjunct brass instructor in Atlanta public school and has presented Master classes in Horn performance, including coaching in the Horn repertoire throughout Georgia. He has also been a judge for solo and ensemble contests and All-State auditions in the local metro area.
Ronald has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Horn Performance from Kennesaw State University. He studied with Brice Andrus of the Atlanta Symphony, William Hill of the Atlanta Symphony, and studies at Mississippi Valley State University, The University of Alabama in the Horn studio of Charles (Skip) Snead and Robert Pruzin.
He has performed with The Atlanta Horn Club, The Atlanta Wind Symphony, The Cobb Symphony Orchestra, Horizon bands, the Atlanta Community Symphony, and many other community bands and Orchestras in Cobb County and Metro Georgia. He is a member of the Atlanta Federation of Musicians, Local 148-462.
