About Ryan Greer

Ryan Greer is a performer, educator, and composer currently enjoying an active career as a commercial trumpet player in the Southeastern US. You can find him performing in a multitude of settings and venues ranging from live pop horn sections, pit orchestras, studio recordings, big bands, churches, teaching students of various ages, and much more. Having been graced with mentors that are working musicians has taught him the importance of being a chameleon in all settings and has greatly opened up the world of playing possibilities. 

Ryan has seen success in and enjoyed having a teaching studio with a vast age range since high school. He has been lucky enough to be mentored by some of the best in the field. This has provided the ability to have a strong fundamental and pedagogically curated approach to the way that he teaches trumpet to others. Having experienced and seen many forms of “chop issues”, teachings he received, and personal experience, he enjoys aiding students reach their playing potential and have an overall more enjoyable experience playing trumpet. As an active educator in the marching arts world, Ryan has taught a vast number of schools ranging from the East and West coast. He spent nearly a decade as a member of Drum Corps International groups touring the world, and is currently enjoying the role of Brass Caption Head at Etowah High School. 

Ryan graduated Cum Laude from Kennesaw State University with a Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Performance in 2025. His most influential mentors include Dr. Hardin Butcher, Sean Billings, Kevin Lyons, and the legendary Bobby Shew, all of whom have left profound impacts on his journey he is grateful for.
