Get to know Sandon Chevlin
Sandon Chevlin is a multi-instrumentalist and educator with experience as a public school band director. They specialize in clarinet, saxophone, flute, and bassoon and hold an M.M. in Music Composition from Florida Atlantic University and an M.A.T. in Secondary Education from Rollins College.
A clarinetist since 2003, Sandon earned a scholarship to Rollins College based on their clarinet audition and has studied with Ciprian Stancioi, Moe Goldstein, Christine Barron, and Patrick Graham. They have performed on clarinet and bass clarinet with the Rollins Orchestra, FAU Symphony Band, The Miami Klezmer Band, and The Orkleztra. Their experience includes multiple musical theater productions and two seasons with the Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches.
In addition to clarinet, Sandon is an accomplished saxophonist, performing on baritone, tenor, and alto saxophones in jazz ensembles, concert bands, and pit orchestras. Their credits include the Rollins Jazz Ensemble, Rollins Wind Ensemble and Palm Beach State College Concert Band.
As a flutist, Sandon studied with Dr. Katie Mess and has performed in pit orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the Rollins Flute Choir.
Their bassoon experience includes study with Rich Ervin and performances with the Rollins Orchestra, FAU Symphony Band, and Indian River Pops Orchestra.
With a background in both performance and music education, Sandon brings a well-rounded and engaging approach to their teaching.
