Performance Experience: I performed in the concert band and wind ensemble on snare drum throughout grade school, and have regularly performed in front of hundreds, sometimes even thousands of people as a drummer on a full kit.

Teaching Experience: I have been teaching private lessons since age 16 since I started playing at age 8. I now have about 20 years of teaching experience on drums, teaching ages 3 up to adults.

Teaching Philosophy: My teaching philosophy is simple: you get out what you put in. In my lessons, we practice the way we want to perform. Practice makes permanent. For me it's all about teaching students how to practice properly, what to practice and how often.

I (Mr. Stephen) am a seasoned multi-instrument instructor with over 18 years of teaching experience. I have experience working with students aged 3 to adult, teaching all skill levels on drums. The tone of my lessons is laid-back, friendly and fun at times, and stern and by-the-book at other times, depending on each student's needs and personality. I specialize in jazz music and improvisation, and also have an advanced understanding of classical music theory. I am goal-oriented in both my teaching and performance endeavors. I help students achieve goals like recital participation, school and extracurricular band activities and more. My credentials include multiple band awards for both the Jazz band and Wind Ensemble as a snare drum player. I have also performed in multiple bands as a drummer over the years, touring the US and writing and releasing my own music. My original music has been signed by labels like Blossom Records, Saman Records, LVLD Music and Krow Music Group.
