About Steven Garza

Steven Garza is an Austin-based music educator and percussionist. He began playing drums at age 11 in Corpus Christi, Texas and has since then performed for a variety of churches, jazz groups, and bands in South and Central Texas. Steven holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Texas at Austin. During his time at university, he performed with the UT Wind Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, and Longhorn Band. Currently, Steven serves as the percussion technician for Lake Belton High School in Temple, Texas. Additionally, Steven performs as the primary drum set player for the Main Street American Swing Band and the Musikatz, both of which are based in Bastrop, Texas. Steven is passionate about music education and performance and believes that anyone can learn any instrument as long as there is a willingness to learn and, most importantly, a sincere love for music.
