About Steve Wilfong

Steve Wilfong is a trombone, bass trombone, electric bass guitar, euphonium, baritone, trumpet, French horn, tuba, and banjo teacher who creates fun, engaging lessons tailored to each student’s individual goals and interests. He believes music should be enjoyable, and his lessons focus on building strong fundamentals through meaningful musical material while encouraging steady growth and confidence. As a freelance performer, composer, and arranger, Steve teaches a wide variety of musical styles and incorporates music theory, song structure, and practical musicianship into lessons as needed. Whether students are preparing for auditions, performing with ensembles, or simply learning for enjoyment, he helps them progress at a pace that fits their goals. Steve holds a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University and brings over 40 years of professional performance experience with major orchestras, touring productions, jazz ensembles, and nationally recognized artists.
