About Suzie
Get to know Suzie
Suzie started playing the flute at the age of 10 and has been playing for 26 years. She performed professionally with the U.S Army Bands as a flute and piccolo player with military concert bands, marching bands, woodwind quintets and chamber ensembles. During her time in the military Suzie performed throughout the United States, Europe and on a deployment to Afghanistan. She has performed for U.S and foreign dignitaries including the British royal family as well as performing collaborative concerts with the Nashville Symphony. While stationed in Germany, Suzie performed with military musicians from Germany, Great Britain, Serbia, and many other nations. She also served as the musical director and conductor for a variety of music ensembles within the Army. Through a collaboration between military and civilian communities, Suzie has taught flute lessons to elementary through high school students in the local community as well as having a private studio. Outside of being a military musician Suzie has frequently been a flutist with local church choirs and has performed with pit orchestras for theatre groups. Suzie also enjoys performing in a flute and guitar duo with her husband Mike. She holds a Bachelors in Music Education from the State University of New York at Fredonia where she performed primarily as a piccolo player with the University Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and flute ensemble. While in college Suzie also taught flute lessons to members of the New Horizons Band Program. She enjoys teaching students of all ages and abilities. In her free time Suzie enjoys running, baking and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
