      Get to know Sylvia Riddell

Hello! My name is Sylvia Riddell and I am a piano, violin, guitar, and ukulele instructor at Music & Arts. I have been playing, performing, and LOVING music since I began my first formal music lessons at 6 years old. In May 2024, I graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Music Therapy and I am passionate about the psychological and cognitive benefits that music can bring to our lives. During my time at Utah State, I worked with individuals from all walks of life, from preschoolers with developmental delays to hospice patients well into their 90s, to accomplish their own personal goals through music. When it comes to teaching, I take a creative and student-driven approach. While I believe strongly in the benefits of achieving musical excellence (and I will always encourage my students to practice every single day!), I believe that cultivating a deep love of music is the most valuable outcome of taking lessons. In all my musical endeavors, whether I’m playing in the pit orchestra for Fiddler on the Roof, gigging at a Hawaiian luau, or teaching a young student the notes to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, my goal is the same: to share the gift of music with as many people as I can.
