About Ted Hale
Get to know Ted Hale
I began playing trombone in band at age 10, just like most of my students. After high school, I was awarded a performance scholarship at Capital Univeristy, where I would go on to complete a bachelor's degree in jazz performance. During the 1980's, I had my own jazz ensemble as well (Edge). We played jazz for weddings, at music venues and other special occasions. In 1985, I was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Hartford where I received a master's degree in trombone performance, in 1987. I won an auditon for Top Brass upon graduation. I toured and performed with them for 3 years. In the 90's, I continued to perform and tour while also attending Indiana University, where I earned a doctorate in 1997. Just before I graduated, I auditioned for the Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale as Principal Trombone and trombonist with the Lone Star Brass. I would stay there and end up being the General Manager for 9 years. In 2007, I moved to Phoenix to continue playing, recording and teaching at Music and Arts!
