      Ted Hale
      Music Teacher, Master
      Location: Glendale, AZ
      Speaks: English
Instructs: Baritone, Flute, Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba
      Education: Doctorate, Indiana University
Performance Experience: I have toured, performed and recorded with Jim Nabors, Bob Hope, The Spinners, and other pop performers. I toured with Top Brass in the 1980's, making several CD's. In the 90's I performed and toured with the Lone Star Brass, also making several CD's. I was Principal Trombone of the Southwest Symphony in New Mexico for 22 years and Principal Trombone with the Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale for 9 years. I also served as substitute trombone with the Houston Symphony.
Teaching Experience: I have taught beginning level through University levels since 1980. I have taught in Music Stores similar to Guitar Center, at community colleges, high schools and other educational institutions. I have been a K-12 band director and for 9 years, was the Artistic Director and Pops Conductor of the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Chorale.
Teaching Philosophy: The success of the student is what drives my teaching. Many are beginning band students and we'll make sure they are caught up with band, while also advancing on their instrument in ways band doesn't allow for. For Junior high and young adults, I teach a wide varitey of exercises, etudes, method books, popular song books, etc. For adults and seniors, I have a special collection of materials that appeals to this age group.

      Get to know Ted Hale

I began playing trombone in band at age 10, just like most of my students. After high school, I was awarded a performance scholarship at Capital Univeristy, where I would go on to complete a bachelor's degree in jazz performance. During the 1980's, I had my own jazz ensemble as well (Edge). We played jazz for weddings, at music venues and other special occasions. In 1985, I was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Hartford where I received a master's degree in trombone performance, in 1987. I won an auditon for Top Brass upon graduation. I toured and performed with them for 3 years. In the 90's, I continued to perform and tour while also attending Indiana University, where I earned a doctorate in 1997. Just before I graduated, I auditioned for the Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale as Principal Trombone and trombonist with the Lone Star Brass. I would stay there and end up being the General Manager for 9 years. In 2007, I moved to Phoenix to continue playing, recording and teaching at Music and Arts!
