About Tom Smith

Tom Smith has been playing electric and acoustic guitar for more than 20 years, and banjo for more than 15. He is a versatile player, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter who plays with several area bands. He plays across numerous genres, including blues, country, Americana, rock, metal, and alternative. 

As a mostly self-taught musician, one of his greatest strengths is teaching others how to learn, both with an instructor and on their own time. Believing that music is a life skill, he focuses on teaching students the fundamental skills and theory that they need to grow as musicians throughout their lifetimes. As a gigging guitarist and banjoist, he seeks to give students the toolkit they need to perform confidently in any setting, both solo and as members of bands or ensembles.
