About Travis Schuster

Travis Schuster is a virtuoso guitarist from Louisville, Kentucky. He is equally proficient on acoustic guitar as he is on electric guitar and is an instructor for bass, ukulele, and mandolin utilizing a wide variety of musical genres. As a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance, has in his lifetime studied with such guitar virtuosos as- Jack Brengle, Tom Browning, Mario Dasilva and Andrew Rhinehardt. In addition to playing with various alternative rock bands over the years, has performed in and directed several guitar ensembles. All lessons by Mr. Schuster and/or “Mr. Travis” as most students refer to him, are designed to meet the individual desires and overall musical aspirations of each student regardless of background or aspiration. He can teach guitar soloing, fingerstyle, flat-picking techniques, alternate- tunings, tapping, Jazz-improvisation, sight reading, and communicates elements of Music Theory in a manner that is easy to understand. From learning how to build chords, transposing a favorite songs key to one that can be more easily sung in, to Ear Training, Mr. Schuster covers all the bases required for competent musicianship regardless of the instrument, Mr. Schuster also brings a tremendous amount of experience in the arena of guitar equipment, from the proper use of various pedals and effects-system to what to look for when purchasing an amplifier. Lastly, the private student is not only taught the art of preforming but gets the opportunity to do so whether playing solo, or with other students in an ensemble setting at a recital hall among other venues. On your first lesson provide Mr. Schuster with 5 of your favorite songs you would like to learn on guitar, bass, ukulele or Mandolin, and he will get to work crafting the instruction to accomplish those goals.
