      Tristin Koenig
      Music Teacher, Professional
      Location: Doylestown , PA
      Speaks: English
      Instructs: Saxophone
Education: MM Jazz Studies, Temple University Class of 2025 BM Saxophone Performance, The University of the Arts Class of 2024
Performance Experience: I've been performing professionally in a variety of musical styles for 10+ years since the age of 16. As a regularly called sideman, I have played with numerous different acts. Some notable acts include Monnette Sudler, Sonny Fortune, and Cedric Napoleon. Currently I perform regularly with Riko and Whaler Collective, Morel, MODE 7, and other Philly-based acts.
Teaching Experience: I have been teaching since 2016 starting out as a private saxophone student tutor for Five Towns College in Long Island, NY. Outside of tutoring college-level musicians, I started teaching kids from ages 9-18 at The Philadelphia Clef Club of Jazz in 2023 as a Theory Teacher and Ensemble Coach. I currently teach at the Global Leadership Academy in their after-school program under the Hines Creative Arts Initiative.
Teaching Philosophy: I believe in four main pillars of a musical foundation. These include Technique, Repertoire, Composition, and Improvisation. In my lessons, I personalize my lesson plan for each student and their needs. I like to ask what my students listen to, what they want to play, and I like to get them exploring other kinds of music as well. My goal is to get them to enjoy music as much as I do.
