About Welfare Wang

Welfare Wang started playing trumpet in 4th grade and began marching band in middle school. He played at the Olympic women's soccer opening performance in Beijing in 2008  He auditioned and received a music scholarship to play for the Citadel band. As a Freshman he sat 3rd chair and as an upperclassman he trained all new Freshman trumpet players. Welfare played in the Royal Military Tattoo in 2015. During his collegiate career he progressed his way 1st chair and section leader, where he also played in the president's inauguration parade in 2017. After graduating from the Citadel, he joined the Camden Community Band. He also is an avid player in the First Baptist Church orchestra and Armed Services Veterans Band in Columbia, South Carolina.
