About William Helf

Mr. Helf has been playing music for over 40 years. He started on trombone in school and later tor took up guitar while in HS. He attended Berklee College of music in Boston and turned professional touring hotels and cruise ships . He then returned to Long Island and began teaching in local music stores. He also was active in local clubs performing on guitar and trombone. In 1980 he  again went on tour this time as an opening act for Prince and Rick James. Returning to LI again he was active as a teacher and performer.  After receiving a Jazz Scholarship he was granted a Bachelors of Fine Art in Music from the New School in NYC. He then finished his Master degree in Mus. Ed at CW Post/liu in 2006. During this time he also obtained NYS certification in music and taught in public schools for 8 years. At the present time Mr. Helf is teaching over 30 students per week at Music & Arts in Deer Park NY>
