About Luis Burke
Get to know Luis Burke
Luis Burke holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Eastern New Mexico University and a Master of Arts in Trumpet Performance from the University of Central Florida.
Mr. Burke has performed with the Roswell Symphony Orchestra and the Southwest Symphony Orchestra. He was selected to perform with the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) Honor Band and earned Second Place in the New Mexico Division of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Competition in 2019. Additionally, he won the Eastern New Mexico University “Friends of Music” Departmental Scholarship Competition for three consecutive years (2020–2022).
Mr. Burke served as an adjunct trumpet professor for the University of Central Florida right after completing his masters. During this time, the trumpet studio qualified for quarter finals in the National Trumpet Competition, and Semifinals for the International Trumpet Guild along with being preludes for the international conference.
He also served as a trumpet and horn instructor with the Clovis High School Band (NM) for three years. During his tenure, the program earned recognition for excellence across Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Missouri. He also assisted with middle school band programs in Clovis, NM. Further enriching his educational experience, Mr. Burke completed a mentorship in Spring ISD (Houston, TX) under former The Midwest Clinic President, Richard Crain.
Currently based in Central Florida, Mr. Burke performs with several distinguished ensembles, including the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, the Orlando Contemporary Chamber Orchestra, the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, the UCF Faculty Brass Quintet, and the American Pops Orchestra. He has also performed in Washington, D.C. for the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Awards and represented Florida in the America250 celebration in collaboration with the American Pops Orchestra.
