About Me

Charles "Chuck" Bossert was a member of the Penfield Symphony as a section cellist. While there, he studied with Stefan Reuss, Principal Cellist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

Chuck was born and raised in Rochester, NY. He began to play Cello at age 8 and studied with Dr. David Fray from Roberts Wesleyan College, North Chili, NY. While a teenager, he played in the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra which toured the United States and Europe. The highlight of this experience was to play an annual concert with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra at the famed Eastman Theater located in Rochester, NY. Chuck graduated from Ithaca College with Bachelors of Music Degrees in Education and Performance. While in Ithaca, he studied with Einar “Jeff” Holm. During the summers, he studied with Lynn Richmond, Assistant Principal Cellist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

With a career change, Chuck started a Master’s of Music Performance at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, located in Potsdam, NY. While there, he studied with Matt Wexler. Chuck was the assistant Principal of the Symphonic Orchestra and Principal of the Opera Orchestra. In addition, he was a section cellist of the Chamber Orchestra of Northern New York, Prof. Ken Andrews, conductor.

In 2006, a career move saw him relocate to Lafayette, Indiana. While there, Chuck taught lower strings at Sunnyside Intermediate School and at Jefferson High School. In addition to these teaching opportunities, he was an active performer, playing weddings, musicals and other shows as well as playing in the Frankfort community Orchestra on both cello and double bass.

Since relocating to North Carolina in 2018, Chuck taught at St. Pauls Middle school in St. Pauls, NC for the 2018-2019 school year. He currently teaches beginning strings at Alderman Road Elementary School and Orchestra at Gray’s Creek Middle and High Schools. Chuck is an active performer throughout the Carolinas and plays regularly with the Carolina Philharmonic and Raleigh Symphony. He also maintains an active private studio where he teaches Cello, Violin, Viola and Double Bass. His students have consistently earned superior ratings in solo festivals in New York, Indiana, California, and Texas. In addition, he has had students win chairs in High School All State Orchestras in Indiana and Texas.
