Get to know Alexandra Nichols
Alexandra Nichols showed high musical aptitude, including absolute pitch, from a very early age. At just three years old, she began early-childhood music classes at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School. The following year, she commenced her formal training with Suzuki piano lessons. In addition to classical piano, she began playing the violin at age 10. An avid performer, Alexandra has participated in masterclasses with Dr. Sean Schulze, Larry Rachleff, and Karen Gomyo. She has also performed with the Hope Collective for Early Music and with ensembles such as the Hartt Collegium Ensemble and the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, where she served as associate concertmaster and principal second violin.
During her undergraduate years, Alexandra began teaching her first student. As her studio grew, she discovered a deep passion for teaching. This inspired her to pursue a master’s degree in Violin Performance with a concentration in Suzuki Pedagogy at the Hartt School, from which she has recently graduated. Her background in teaching, along with her extensive teacher training, has fueled her commitment to sharing the gift of music with others. She is deeply aligned with Dr. Suzuki’s vision of creating a better world through the transformative power of music—a force that shapes beautiful hearts and helps children grow into adults of noble character. Alexandra believes wholeheartedly in every child’s potential to learn when provided with the right environment. Her teaching approach centers on meeting each student where they are and equipping them with the tools they need to thrive and achieve their individual musical goals
