About Alvaro Silva

I have performed in numerous ensembles on trumpet from orchestras, to brass bands, jazz combos, and even rock bands. As an educator, I have more than 10 years experience teaching students of all ages, in numerous styles, and often times take from student inspirations when developing their lesson scope. I am comfortable introducing students into the world of classical, jazz, and modern styles for trumpet regardless of previous experience. Aside from performing and teaching, I am also a doctoral student in music education research at Boston University. My dissertation focus involves understanding how mindfulness constructs may affect music students' flow, wellbeing, music performance anxiety, and attentional skills.
