Teaching Philosophy: Mr.Dowd believes that the most important value in music education is the foundation -- music theory and correct & comfortable posture. Andrew also values consistency, confidentiality, and the goals of the students and their parents. Communication and critical thinking is key in fully utilizing lesson times. While memorization is necessary, lessons will focus on effectiveness and understanding the materials so music can become a great career or coping mechanism for students and their families!
Get to know Andrew Dowd
A lifelong student of the violin and the bow, and successful instructor of many styles, Mr. Dowd is still sharing his passion through performance and lessons. After studying music composition at Boise State University in 2004, he relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina and continued to pursue his education in jazz and performance in the bluegrass style. Around the same time, he began sharing the lessons gleaned from the literature of antiquity as well as modern violin technique. Today, he believes, more than ever, that every student has the opportunity to become an artist.
