Get to know Anneke Scace
Anneke Scace is an alto saxophonist and classically trained flutist making waves on the DC jazz scene. A graduate of Gaithersburg High School, Anneke currently attends the University of Maryland on a full-ride scholarship. She is currently studying with saxophonist Amanda Gardier, and is a graduate of Paul Carr's Jazz Academy youth program. Anneke is a 3-time Washington Women in Jazz Festival Emerging Artist, and has played notable venues such as the Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, and the Mid Atlantic Jazz Festival. Anneke has also performed with acclaimed artists such as George Cables, Randy Brecker, and Jazzmeia Horn. This past summer, Anneke traveled to California to participate in Allison Miller's jazz intensive program, where she received daily guidance from renowned pianist Orrin Evans. In 2025, Anneke released her first record, "Full Bloom", fully comprised of original compositions. As a bandleader, her quintet The ChillQuiet Band has maintained a successful residency at DC’s PopFizz Wine Bar for the past 2 years, and performs regularly at jazz clubs in the DMV. Aside from performing, Anneke is a passionate arts advocate and is working to advance jazz policy initiatives alongside the Capitol Hill Jazz Foundation.
