Education:
Carol attended the University of Illinois and studied with Howard Klug. She holds a bachelor's degree in Clarinet Performance from DePaul University, where she was a student of Gwynn Moon Mayeaux.
Performance Experience:
Carol served as a clarinet player with the United States Continental Army Band, at Fort Monroe, Virginia. She toured with the band throughout the Midwest, Pacific Northwest, and to Bermuda. She was a featured soloist with the band and was a member for the TRADOC Woodwind Quintet. In addition to the Army, Carol has performed in Illinois with the Wheaton Municipal Band, Elmhurst Symphony and Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra.
Teaching Experience:
Carol Allen has been teaching with the Music & Arts family since July of 2016.
Teaching Philosophy:
Carol finds great joy in sharing her knowledge and passion for the clarinet with her students. She is heartfelt in helping to facilitate a student's desire to learn, improve, and progress as a clarinet player. Carol aims to instill within her students that by having fun, working hard, and believing in themselves, will be all they need to accomplish their dreams.
Get to know Carol Allen
Carol Allen teaches beginner to advanced clarinet, helping students build strong fundamentals while developing confidence and musical independence. Her lessons focus on healthy playing mechanics and music reading while incorporating scales, etudes, sight-reading, and solo repertoire. Carol uses classical music as a foundation and personalizes instruction so students can progress at their own pace while becoming expressive musicians. She encourages students to believe in their abilities while developing the discipline and practice habits needed to reach their goals. Carol studied at the University of Illinois, holds a B.A. in Music Performance from DePaul University, and performed with the U.S. Army TRADOC Band.
