Education: Carol attended the University of Illinois and studied with Howard Klug. She holds a bachelor's degree in Clarinet Performance from DePaul University, where she was a student of Gwynn Moon Mayeaux.
Performance Experience: Carol served as a clarinet player with the United States Continental Army Band, at Fort Monroe, Virginia. She toured with the band throughout the Midwest, Pacific Northwest, and to Bermuda. She was a featured soloist with the band and was a member for the TRADOC Woodwind Quintet. In addition to the Army, Carol has performed in Illinois with the Wheaton Municipal Band, Elmhurst Symphony and Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra.
Teaching Experience: Carol Allen has been teaching with the Music & Arts family since July of 2016.
Teaching Philosophy: Carol finds great joy in sharing her knowledge and passion for the clarinet with her students. She is heartfelt in helping to facilitate a student's desire to learn, improve, and progress as a clarinet player. Carol aims to instill within her students that by having fun, working hard, and believing in themselves, will be all they need to accomplish their dreams.
Get to know Carol Allen
Carol Allen has a lifelong love of music and playing the clarinet. Carol began clarinet lessons at the age of 12, and studied with Julie DeRoche, and later, Don DeRoche. The hightlight of her high school years was being a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and performing in Orchestra Hall. She is a native of Illinois and received her degree in clarinet performance from DePaul University, in Chicago. Carol is a veteran of the United States Army and currently performs with the Chesapeake Bay Wind Ensemble, and the York River Symphony Orchestra.
