Get to know Prentiss McDaniels
Prentiss McDaniels has taught at Music & Arts in Spartanburg as their woodwind specialist since 2008. She graduated from Converse College with a Bachelors of Music in Music Education in 2008 and Masters of Music in Performance in 2019. Prentiss is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society and was selected as a winner of the Converse College Young Artist Competition in 2018, performing Artie Shaw’s Concerto for Clarinet with the Converse College Symphony Orchestra. She was awarded the Basil Farah Clarinet Scholarship to attend Masterworks Festival and was a featured artist on Kinnikinnik Records album, Better Battles.
Prentiss is also on faculty as Professor of Flute at USC Upstate and Professor of Clarinet and Saxophone at Bob Jones University. She has appeared as a guest artist and lead masterclasses in woodwind techniques in Spartanburg county high school and middle school bands, as well as the French Woods Festival for Performing Arts in Hancock, NY. Prentiss plays regularly with regional bands and orchestras and is passionate about studying and performing music and strives to impart a lifelong love for the performing arts on to her students.
