Get to know Chris Malinowski
Chris Malinowski has been instructing/performing guitar for nearly forty years. His father Sylvester “Mal” Malinowski owned the legendary Delaware music teaching studio Mal’s Music, where Chris learned to teach at a young age. Chris’s lessons consist of a weekly structured plan, which includes: fingering/picking technique exercises, beginning and advanced scale work and improvisation, beginning and advanced chord studies, soloing, music theory, songwriting, cover song instruction (rock, folk, metal, jazz, country, classical), and simultaneous singing and playing (if the student desires). Music reading is also taught upon request. Chris metes out his lesson plan in a gradual, logical progression, depending on the student’s needs/desires. Chris’s goal is to demystify the instrument for the student and to infuse the learning process with a sense of humor and a light-hearted approach. He believes that anyone can learn the guitar, without question. Chris is the guitarist/singer of the original band The Collingwood, with whom he’s released several albums. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science in Cinema and Photography from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. He writes and directs The Collingwood’s award winning music videos. Chris is also the director of the independent feature film “Yes, Your Tide is Cold and Dark, Sir.”, which streams on Amazon Prime.
