About Cordi Dedecker
Get to know Cordi Dedecker
Hello! My name is Cordi DeDecker. I am a brass professional and computer music hobbyist. For nearly a decade I have taught private lessons whether it be at the collegiate level or for public schools, youth orchestras, non-profits, or camps. As a teacher I prioritize building a space for students to explore sound based creativity and find their voices. Because each person learns differently, I understand the importance of flexibility. I adapt and customize lesson plans to ensure every student can track their progress, meet their goals, and feel excited about playing.
My musical background is colorful. I grew up in Texas where I performed in a large high school marching band and went on to complete my undergraduate degree at Baylor University. During this time I competed, advanced, and won prizes in national and international solo competitions. Additionally I provided my services as a substitute trumpeter for professional orchestras in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I recently graduated from Arizona State University where I earned my Master’s degree in Trumpet Performance and held the title of teaching assistant. While in the Valley I have continued performing in Broadway musical pits as well as regional orchestras, chamber groups, and as a member of the Wild West Brass Quintet.
If you or your child is interested in taking lessons, I would love to give you the tools you need to navigate a brass instrument, understand how to approach recurring musical patterns, and clearly express your ideas through song.
