Get to know Danielle Martin
Perhaps because she grew up listening to Vivaldi (and Simon and Garfunkel), after spending several years plunking away at guitars and singing, when Danielle Martin was 10, she decided to play violin in her school’s strings program. In high school, she added the viola to her repertoire. She studied at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts in 1987, got her degree in Violin Performance and Russian Studies at Stetson University in Florida, and studied Suzuki Pedagogy at East Carolina University in North Carolina. Her teachers included Jerrie Lucktenberg, Routa Kroumovitch, Fritz Gearhart, and Joanne Bath. Danielle has been playing and teaching professionally full-time since 1995, in Wilson and Goldsboro, NC, Richmond, VA, and Philadelphia, PA. Previously a member of the Tar RIver Symphony, Barton-Wilson Orchestra, and Orchestral Society of Philadelphia, she currently plays violin or viola in the Clemson University Symphony, Toccoa Symphony Orchestra, and Greenville Light Opera Works, and teaches in Anderson and Seneca, SC
