About Diego Nava

My name is Diego Nava and I am a pianist, composer and a music teacher.  I have performed in many different settings such as jazz ensembles, jazz quartets, jazz trios, piano solo gigs. I have also performed at wedding gigs and at theater plays as the pianist.  Also, I currently perform at the St Augustine's Episcopal Church as the pianist and music director.  I have also taught in many different settings.

During the Fall of 2019, I supported Washington Latin Charter School as a long term substitute for the entire music program. in this program I directed three choirs, a jazz ensemble class and I also taught a music theory class. I have also aided Blues Alley Jazz Camp as an instructor with the task of enhancing ensemble performances. Moreover, I have taught private piano lessons for a great variety of students with many different musical goals. I currently teach students form ages of four years of a age all the way up to 45 years of age and I have been doing so for over six years.

I love to compose orchestral music and that is the reason why I chose music. Or rather it chose me.  My favorite composers include John Williams, who composed the scores for movies Star Wars, Jurassic Park and Harry Potter.  Other composers include Joe Hasaishi and Jeremy Soule. 

Jazz is one of my favorite music genres to perform on piano but in my free time I also like to check out classical piano

scores written by Franz Lizt and Chopin. And in my free free time I also like to check out orchestral movie scores adapted for piano.
