Education: BS in Music Ed, double major-vocal/instrumental. All course work completed for Masters Degree in instrumental conducting-University of Northern Colorado
Performance Experience: Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, Denver Pops Orchestra, Rocky Mountain Brassworks, Memories Dance Band and others.
Teaching Experience: 37 years in mostly public schools at the secondary level in both vocal and instrumental music.
Teaching Philosophy: To offer my knowledge and experience to young instrumentalists with a focus on the whole musical person.
Get to know Douglas Barta
Born into a musical family in the upper midwest and have been involved in vocal and instrumental music of all types ever since. Retired after 37 years in education and now work as a specialist in high brass at area schools here in Douglas County and also perform with several groups in the area. Reside in Parker, CO with wife and two sons and have two sons from a previous marriage and three grandsons, all of whom are musically inclined. My major hobby is my record and CD collection, mostly in the jazz vein.
