About Esther Thornhill

Education: Esther is currently a student at Bellevue College earning a DTA in Music Education and has previous college experience from Oregon State University and Linn-Benton Community College. Esther also earned a specialization in music on their high school diploma.

Performance Experience: Esther started their musical career in 4th grade playing violin in their elementary school orchestra, then learned clarinet in middle school, continuing through college. In Esther’s sophomore year of high school, Esther picked up the tenor saxophone and never put it down. Esther played the clarinet in oregon State University’s wind symphony and tenor saxophone in the marching band for a few years, and continues to pursue saxophone as their primary instrument, playing in community ensembles. 

Teaching Experience: Esther has taught a variety of age ranges over the last 11 or so years, ranging from 5 years old to 18 years old, and volunteers with the Bellevue College choir program and Oregon State University Marching band. Though much of Esther’s teaching experience is STEM based, Esther combines their teaching experience with their experience in music.
