    • Get to know Gryphen Blackwell

      Gryphen Blackwell is originally from Syracuse, NY, but has lived in the Carolinas since 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance (Tuba) from Brevard College and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Music Performance (Tuba) at Converse University.

      Mr. Blackwell has held various teaching positions including Band/Choral Director at Green Upstate High School, Strings Instructor at Chester Park School of the Arts, Band Director at Oakbrook Prep, Band Director at Lake Lure Classical Academy, and Choral Director at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy. He has also served as a Low Brass Instructor at Boiling Springs High School, Seneca High School, and Rosman High School.

      In addition to his teaching experience, Mr. Blackwell is a member of the Foothills Brass Band and the Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps. He has performed with various jazz bands and toured as a member of a traveling bluegrass band throughout the Carolinas and Virginia.
