Get to know Helene Antrican
Whatever
draws you to violin, Helene wants to help you achieve your goals by providing a
supportive and patient learning environment. She spent 6 years teaching private
and group violin lessons at Kaleidoscope Academy in Snohomish, Washington. Helene
graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Violin Performance from
Whitworth
University in 2016 where she also extended her musical studies to
include String Pedagogy and Advanced Violin Pedagogy. Previously she had the
privilege of studying with Suzuki Violin teachers Janet Button and Jan Coleman of
the Coleman Studio.
As a teacher, Helene emphasizes proper technique and a comfortable
playing position in order to produce beautiful tone and skillful playing. By working
with the body and not against it her technique training creates ease and
elegance of movement for violinists of all levels. She empowers students to
think through practicing problems themselves so that they can become more confident
musicians. In addition to classical violin, Helene also teaches Celtic Irish
fiddle for anyone who wants to expand their violin expression.
Helene has performed with Whitworth University Chamber
ensembles, Whitworth Symphony Orchestra, and has appeared in two side by side
concerts with the Coeur D’Alene Symphony Orchestra. She occasionally performs
improvisational violin on her church’s worship team. In her free time, Helene
loves socializing, baking, hiking, reading, and improvising with Arabic Maqam
scales.
