About Jason Chrisman
Jason Chrisman
Music Teacher, Expert
Location: Asheville, NC
Speaks: English
Instructs: Bass Clarinet, Clarinet, Saxophone
Education: After high school I attended Manhattan School of Music where I studied Jazz Saxophone. I was taught by incredible musicians including Rich Perry, Dayna Stephens, Donny McCaslin, Stefan Harris, John Reilly, and many others.
Performance Experience: I also perform around Asheville with various bands/ensembles.
Teaching Experience: During my time MSM, I was able to teach middle school saxophone and clarinet students that participated in the MSM Precollege program. Since moving back to Asheville, I have privately taught saxophone students, ages ranging from 12-45.
Teaching Philosophy: My priority for most beginning students is to improve tone/sound quality, intonation, scales, and sight reading. For more advanced students I enjoy teaching harmony, ear training, and improvisation. I love to spread knowledge and help people overcome whatever musical obstacles they may face. I believe that anyone who truly loves music has the ability to become a great musician and I'm excited to help you along your journey!
Get to know Jason Chrisman
Hello, My name is Jason Chrisman. I am 25 years old and have been playing woodwind instruments since I was 11. I grew up in Weaverville, attending North Buncombe schools. I started on the clarinet and quickly moved to bass clarinet and tenor saxophone. When I started learning about jazz, I gained a whole new level of appreciation for all music and knew that it was something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
