About Jean Dewitt

Music makes me happy, and I want to share my enthusiasm. Creative. Patient. Energized. These three adjectives aptly describe me. With decades of teaching experience in several disciplines, I am eager to direct my energies to piano instruction. Many genres of music have had a lasting impact on my focus: jazz, blues, opera, and the classical repertoire. More than reading notes, I encourage a playful and joyful approach to music. Theory is important and useful—as an aid to learning styles and composition. Designing lessons for beginners, starting at age 6, I incorporate ear training, note recognition, theory, and improvisation. Adults, I welcome your interest in beginning piano lessons—a brain boost! Currently, I am at the piano (Methodist Hospital, The Woodlands, entrance) on Sundays from 1-3. Please stop by.
