Performance Experience: I have performed at several venues in both collegiate and professional settings in the greater Los Angeles area as a guitarist. Most recently, I was a part of the pit orchestra for Cathedral City High School's School of Rock play.
Teaching Experience: I have taught at several music schools around the Los Angeles area. I have taught at Irvine School of Music, Creative Brain Learning, and most recently served as part-time faculty at UNLV as a lecturer and a private teacher.
Teaching Philosophy: I tailor my lessons to match my student's interests and needs. I have taught both hobbyists and serious musicians. If you are someone who has always had an appreciation for the guitar and need help getting the basics down or need help with repertoire for juries, I am confident I can take you to the next level.

Hello, my name is Jose Serna. I am originally from Southern California and recently moved to Las Vegas. I have 15 years of guitar-playing experience with an emphasis in jazz.
I am currently earning my Masters degree in Jazz and Commerical Music from UNLV. I can play and teach in several styles such as classical, jazz, rock, folk, pop, etc.
I have taught guitar and music theory at several private and public music schools in the greater Los Angeles area. I have experience in teaching one-on-one guitar lessons as well as teaching in a classroom setting. I love teaching children of all ages as well as adults.
I love playing and talking about music. I can teach in both English and Spanish.
